Senior women scoop double first in Northern Cross Country Relays

It was double gold for Derby Athletic Club’s senior women’s teams, as both A and B teams bagged first place for the club in the Northern Cross Country Relays.

The event, held at Graves Park in Sheffield on Saturday (18 October) also saw a host of excellent individual performances as well as some impressive team finishes.

Derby A women’s team of Molly Hudson, Evelyn Jones and Annabelle Ita finished in a confident first place, with Molly’s 11:17 the second fastest time of the race. And coming 10^th overall to claim gold as the first B team home, were Demi Betts, Rebecca Stephens and Bethan Hudson.

Other highlights of the day included a strong run from U15 girl Olivia Lee, finishing first in the opening leg for the A team, with a positive team finish in eighth; David Bishop posting 9:58 to come fourth in the first leg of the senior men’s race; William Saunders bringing the A leg of the U13 boys’ A team home in second place; and a strong 7:13 second-leg run from Samuel Watson to pull the U17 men’s team to third place.

Other impressive team finishes came from the U15 boys’ team of Osniel Segal, Toby Newboult and Frederick Harrison, who finished fifth overall, and the U17 women’s team of Poppy Radbourne, Isla Powell and Jessica Finnesey who came seventh.

Well done to all the athletes who took part and many thanks to parents, carers, supporters and officials on the day.
