Hatful of trophies for Derby at North Mids Cross Country

Cross country runners from Derby Athletic Club set the seal on a great season with a hatful of individual and team wins at the fourth and final match in the North Midlands Cross Country League, at Wollaton Park, Nottingham.

The Senior Women, Chrissie Dover, Alice Crane, Bethan Hudson, Charlotte Reading and Rebecca Miller, went into the event in a comfortable lead, and they posted another convincing win to nail overall victory.

Alice Crane, making her senior cross country debut, finished third overall and won the U20 title, and Chrissie Dover won the overall Senior Women’s individual title with a second place on the day, while Tracy Hinxman won the Vet Women 45 title.

The club’s U13 Boys team of William Wright, Stanley Lowe and Luke Bradbury went into the competition with a six-point lead, and gave another a great team performance to seal the overall team title.

The U13 Girls had a similar six-point lead going into the event, and saw a great end to their north Midlands cross country league campaign by winning the team title. Well done to Bethany Dye, Elsie Jackson, Molly Hammond, Kira West, Amelia Robinson, Isobel Shipley and Sophie Robertson Dover. Sophie was also rewarded with a final individual position of third.

And the U15 Boys team of Corey Rose, Patrick Welsh and Charlie Haste, who had a comfortable 43-point lead on the morning, continued to dominate the event, winning the team competition, with Corey Rose finishing runner-up overall and Paddy Welsh in third.
