Derby Athletic Club juniors are Minileague Cross Country champions

Derby Athletic Club U11, U13 and U15 cross-country runners ran their hearts out on a frosty Saturday morning match at Moorways in Derby, to retain the overall Derbyshire Minileague Cross Country trophy.

DAC runners emerged triumphant after a series of hard-fought races across the age groups, beating nearest rivals Amber Valley and Erewash Athletic Club into overall second place. Athletes from High Peak AC, Chesterfield and District AC, Heanor RC, Buxton AC and Matlock AC also took part.

As well as the group win, there were also individual wins for DAC runners. Sophie Trafford and Osniel Segal won for U11 girls and boys, while Isla Love and Daniel Cope won for U15 girls and boys.

Many thanks to all runners in the final event and in earlier Minileague events – your efforts have helped the club win the trophy. And a big thank you to all those who gave up their time to set up the course and Moorways and to officiate and marshal on the day.
