Success for DAC athletes in combined events champs
Two days of tough competition saw success for Derby AC athletes in ESAA (English Schools Athletic Association) Regional Midland Combined Events.
The weekend meeting, at Moorways at the end of June, saw DAC Inter Boys athletes Sammy Coulson and Jacob Watson qualify to represent the county as part of the Derbyshire team for the national English Schools multi-event in Bedford on 14 and 15 September.
Jacob finished third after the gruelling two-day octathlon, with a PB of 3579, while Sammy was sixth, also with a PB score of 3431. Both posted multiple PBs in individual events, including javelin, 1500 and 400m.
Patricija Nemanyte battled injury to complete the Senior Girls heptathlon event and also qualify once again for the Bedford meeting. Patricija was in the difficult situation of being the only athlete who took part in the Senior Girls event and without any opposition, posted a commendable total of 4377.
DAC athlete Emma Williams performed well in the Junior Girls pentathlon, finishing with a PB score of 1827, including individual PBs in almost every event, to come in 11th place.
