DAC are MiniLeague champions for 2023
Derby Athletic Club is delighted once again to be awarded the accolade of Derbyshire Track and Field MiniLeague champions, with an overall points total of 2458.5, which equated to a league points total of 23, beating Chesterfield (19 league points) and Amber Valley and Erewash (15 league points).
The fourth and final match in the summer series was held on Saturday 15 July at Moorways Stadium, and saw another excellent turnout from the clubs U11, U13 and U15 runners, jumpers and throwers.
The weather at the last match saw sunshine, strong winds, showers and finally a downpour and thunderstorms which meant the event had to be halted early, out of consideration for athletes and officials.
Throughout the four summer MiniLeague matches at Moorways, each of which was individually won by DAC, athletes, parents, coaches and officials from the club have supported and worked hard to make this victory possible. Many thanks to you all, whether you were involved in just one match or all four.
The result consolidates last year’s MiniLeague T&F win and shows that DAC juniors are a force to be reckoned with.
Kaylah McKenzie broke the Girls 100m U15 record, while Harry Smethurst set the boys record in the 75m (a new MiniLeague U11 event this year) and Annabelle Sturt the girls 75m record.
Many thanks also to the athletes from other Derbyshire clubs – Amber Valley and Erewash AC, Buxton AC, Chesterfield AC, Heanor Running Club and High Peak AC – for providing challenging opposition.
