Osniel and Olivia lead the charge for Derby AC in ERRA Road Relays
A strong contingent of 26 junior athletes competed for Derby Athletic Club in the English Road Running Association National Road Relays at Sutton Park on Saturday 4 October.
The event at the Birmingham park saw DAC teams competing in both male and female races at U13, U15 and U17.
Standout performances included Osniel Segal, who, as a lower age-group runner in the U15 boys’ race, brought the team home 14th on the first leg, with a time of 12:41. The U15 boys’ A team, completed by Frederick Harrison and Isaac Jones, came 20th overall out of a field of 75 complete teams.
Another excellent performance came from Olivia Lee, who not only came home first on the first leg of the U15 girls race, but was also the quickest U15 girl overall with her time of 13:12. In fact Olivia’s time was four seconds faster than the fastest of the U17 women, who ran the same course.
The Derby A team in this race, with Jessica Whitehead and Alice Lincoln completing the lineup, finished 14th overall out of a total of 68 complete teams in the event.
Other DAC athletes taking part were:
U13 boys: William Saunders, Jenson Woolley, Felix Cheesman, 27th out of 52 complete teams
U13 girls: Joyce Lenton, Ellie Pepper, Faith Harries, 31st out of 50 complete teams
