Get into officiating
All athletes need technical officials in order to compete fairly and using the same rules. Technical officials follow a prescribed pathway as far as the individual wants. They can gain points for the club by officiating at meetings.
Technical officials can choose their own specialist discipline. There are five to choose from in track and field: starting and starter’s assistant, track judging, timekeeping, photo finish and field judging.
There is also the opportunity to become an endurance official (mainly road racing and cross-country).
The club’s Officials Officers are Ernie Cripps and Bemigho Etuwewe.
- Level 1 is the basic level for club matches
- Level 2 is capable of working at county level
- Level 3 means working at area/regional level (Northern, Midlands competitions)
- Level 4 is national and international standard
Full details of all courses are on the England athletics website.
