Summer track and field events 2026
2026 outdoor track and field athletics programme
Derby Athletic Club athletes of all ages are encouraged to compete for their club at summer track and field meetings in 2026. Please note dates and times and watch out for sign-up sheets in the clubhouse. You can talk to your coach about which events would be most suitable for you. Some have venue TBC – we will update when available.
There is no charge for DAC athletes to compete in the club competitions. Open events such as DADA meets and the County Championships will involve a fee when registering.
CLUB EVENTS
Derbyshire Mini League Track and Field
All events are at Moorways Stadium, Derby (DAC’s home track) at 10am.
- Match 1: Saturday 25 April
- Match 2: Saturday 4 July
- Match 3: Sunday 25 July
- Match 4: Saturday 15 August
These events are ideal for athletes with less competition experience, as well as those who have competed before. They are for U10 to U16 (school years 4 to 9; athletes must be nine years old) and include sprints, hurdles, distance and relay track events, and high jump, long jump, shot and discus/ javelin/howler on the field. Athletes may compete in up to three events plus a relay. Field events have specified start times, and the track events run on from the 10am start of the first event, so keep an eye on the track to make sure you are ready for their event.
YDL (Youth Development League) Lower Age Group
These fixtures are for U14 and U16 athletes (years 7 &8 and years 9&10), who may compete in up to three events plus a relay. Only two athletes may compete for the club in each event, so athletes should liaise with team manager or coach to check which they are selected for. The full range of track and field is offered (PV and HT for U16s).
Events start at 11.15am on track and field. All events have a specific start time.

- Match 2 – Sunday 31 May, Tamworth Athletics Track
- Match 3 – Saturday 18 July, Berry Hill Park, Mansfield
YDL Upper Age Group
These fixtures are for U18 and U20 athletes, who may compete in up to three events plus a relay. Only two athletes may compete for the club in each event, so athletes should liaise with team manager or coach to check which they are selected for. The full range of track and field is offered. Events start at 11am on track and field. All events have a specific start time.
- Match 1 – Sunday 19 April, Northwood Stadium, Stoke
- Match 2 – Sunday 24 May, venue TBC
- Match 3 – Sunday 12 July, venue TBC
Northern League
These fixtures are aimed at senior athletes, although U18s may be able to compete in certain events if there is space. This year we are competing in the East Premier League. Athletes should liaise with team manager or coach check which events they have been selected for. The full range of track and field is offered.

- Match 2 – Sunday 21 June, venue TBC

OPEN EVENTS
DADA flat track events
These open events are aimed at all ages and include flat track, one field event per meeting and Quad Kids events for U11s. DADA events are staged at Moorways Stadium, Derby, on Tuesday evenings. For more details, please see the DADA website.

Derbyshire County Championships
This annual open event, run with Nottinghamshire County Championships, is aimed at athletes of all ages from nine upwards. It will include the full range of track and field disciplines, as well as a Quad Kids event for U11s. This year’s county championships are at Moorways Stadium, Derby, on Saturday and Sunday, 9 and 10 May.
SCHOOLS EVENTS
There will be various schools track and field events during the summer – please liaise with your child’s school for details.
Cross country and sportshall
Winter events are still continuing, including Derbyshire Minileague sportshall matches held at Queen’s Park Sports Centre, Boythorpe Road, Chesterfield, S40 2ND, on Sunday afternoons, starting at 1pm, throughout the winter season.
Age groups for winter 2025-26 are the same as summer 2025 – so if you were U13 in summer 2025, that is your age group for the winter as well. Sportshall events are aimed at U11, U13 and U15 athletes, and feature sprints, distance races, and field events such as vertical high jump, standing long jump, shot, speed bounce and hi-stepper.

There is no charge for DAC athletes to compete in club competitions, including Sportshall, Mini League, YDL Upper and Lower and Northern League.
Cross-country and road races
Saturday 7 February – British Cross Challenge, Leeds, venue TBC: U13-U20 and seniors
Saturday 21 February – National Cross Country Championships, East Park, Sedgefield, County Durham: U13-U20 and seniors
Saturday 7 March – Inter-Counties Cross Country Championships, Nottingham, venue TBC: U13-U20s and seniors
Saturday 14 March – English Schools Cross Country Championships, Sefton Park, Liverpool: U13-U20s and seniors
The club supports the North Midlands Cross Country Leagues throughout the winter months (October to January). This league offers races for Seniors/Masters, U17, U15, U13 and U11 for both sexes.
Teams are entered in to the Northern and National Cross Country Championships (including relays) in all age groups and both sexes. Teams are also entered in to the Northern and National Road Relays in September/October and April.
In September/October Senior Men race over six stages, Senior Women over four stages and U17s, U15s, and U13s race over three stages.
In the April relays the men’s team comprises 12 stages (they qualify for the Nationals via the Northern) and the women’s six stages (they can enter the Nationals direct without having to qualify).
