Double success for DAC athletes
A great weekend for Derby Athletic Club saw club athletes winning a gold medal in the Youth Nations Cup and a bronze in the England Athletics Combined Events championships.
Competing for England in Dublin in the Youth Nations Cup was Hannah Barnden, who this year has moved from multi eventing to focus on the javelin.
In a close-fought contest, a delighted Hannah threw 45.99 to take gold from Ireland’s Aobhin McMahon in second place with 45.40.
And in the England Combined Events championships in Manchester at the Sports City stadium, U15 multi eventer Patricija Nemanyte scored a pb in the hexathlon with a total of 3320 points. She gained bronze medal overall in a hotly contested event, and won gold as the Midlands champion.
Well done to both athletes!
