England Athletics Affiliation and Registration fees 2018-19
We have recently contacted clubs to let them know details of new club affiliation and athlete registration fees that will be in place for the 2018/19 affiliation year, effective 1 April 2018.
We frequently receive feedback on this topic, both through our annual consultation survey, at events and as part of the many interactions that we have daily with clubs, athletes, competition providers and other organisations. In recent years, while there have been calls for both substantial increases in athlete registration fees and calls to freeze the fee, the general approach that we have continued to take is to increase by small amounts in order to ensure that we are well placed to achieve our strategic priorities.
These small increases partly reflect increased costs, including inflation, but also reflects a desire for investment in the sport to be maintained and, in some cases, increased.
The affiliation and registration fees for 2018-19 will therefore be as follows:
Athlete registration fee – £15. A £1 increase for the 2018/19 Affiliation Year (which starts 1 April 2018).
Club affiliation fee – £100 per club. This fee remains unchanged since 2015/16.
Affiliation and registration fees in England continue to be the lowest among the home countries in the UK and are among the lowest of comparable National Governing Bodies for other sports, but England Athletics will continue to listen to views expressed by those involved in the sport to ensure fair and effective provision across athletics and running. We will consult on this topic again in 2018.
While any decision to increase fees is difficult and one that we take seriously, we are doing so as we are committed to delivering programmes and engaging in activities that are valued by our member clubs and registered athletes, at a time when we have reduced staff numbers to work even more efficiently.
These activities include support for clubs through the appointment of Club Support Managers and dedicated staff whose roles are to support volunteers, officials and further develop road running.
England Athletics will also expand the Club Run programme, which provides direct coaching support for off track clubs and will be launching our Track Nights programme, designed to do the same for track and field. We will continue to invest in England national championships and England representative teams, including the Manchester International and the Commonwealth Games, as well as coach development and education and youth programmes amongst other key areas. We are also committed to improving our digital services for the benefit of the sport.
We would like to thank you and your club for the contribution that you make to the sport and look forward to a successful year for everyone involved in athletics and running.
