Joy as Derby AC wins Derbyshire Minileague

There was delight at Moorways Stadium on Saturday 16 July as Derby Athletic Club juniors crowned their excellent efforts this summer with a famous victory in the Derbyshire Athletics Track and Field Minileague competition. Some members of the winning team are pictured above.

Athletes from U11, U13 and U15 age groups competed over four matches at Moorways between April and July, scoring points for the club in a variety of events including sprints and middle distance races, long jump and high jump and throws such as howler javelin and shot.

Clubs competing against Derby AC were Chesterfield, Amber Valley and Erewash, High Peak, Buxton and Heanor. Derby went into the final event with a 130 match point advantage over nearest rivals Chesterfield, and consolidated that lead to take the trophy on a hot and sunny day.

Massive well done to all athletes taking part, and many thanks to coaches, parents and volunteers for all their support and help.
