Magnificent win for Corey in North Mids cross country
There was a great turnout for Derby AC at the second North Midlands cross country league at Corby on Saturday 9 November with 42 athletes competing with a great team spirit throughout.
Thank you to all the club parents who got the juniors down to Corby – and many thanks to Mick and Sue Heffernan for their time as officials.
Performances of note included a magnificent individual win for Corey Rose in the U15 boys, particularly pleasing in view of recent disappointment in other events. There was also great support from Paddy Welsh and Charlie Haste, both coming back from injury, with a third and sixth respectively and a win in the team competition for the lads.
Just as commanding was Jack Davies winning the U17 men’s. The fast improving Ben Draper, competing in his first cross country season, finished in the top 10.
For the U15 Girls there were great runs from Sarah Bourne and Jessica Robertson-Dover, finishing third and eighth respectively, and Sophie Robertson-Dover finished third for the U13 girls.
Our Senior Women gave a good showing in a very strong race with the in-form Chrissie Dover finishing seventh, Alice Crane in her second senior race finishing 14th, and Charlotte Reading bringing the team home in 24th.
The next North Midlands cross country is at the muddy Shipley Park on Saturday 7 Dec.
