No training at Derby Athletic Club until mid-April
All athletes, parents, coaches and other volunteers need to be aware that following the latest Government advice on Covid-19 (Coronavirus) on 16 March 2020, and updated guidance from England Athletics, all athletic coaching sessions at Moorways track will be cancelled until mid-April at the earliest.
This also means that the first events of the summer track and field season, the Derbyshire Mini League on Saturday 4 April, and the DADA flat track event on Tuesday 7 April, will not now go ahead.
A decision on other fixtures towards the end of April will be made nearer the time.
Derby Athletic Club is disappointed to have to make this decision so near the start of the summer season, but in view of the national guidance about social distancing, we need to prioritise the health and safety of our athletes and of our volunteers, many of whom are in the vulnerable older age bracket.
Club members may wish to continue to train at home or in their local area, and we would encourage them stay in touch with coaches and fellow athletes via social media and other electronic means of communication, in order to support each other through this challenging time.
Please continue look at this website and the club’s Facebook group for updates. Many thanks for your continuing support.
